I like patterns. This specific compilation is pretty simple, it is a psuedo-bellcurve. begining at one minute, each track increases in length by 30 seconds. at the six minute thirty second mark, the trend goes back down.Simple enough.

Creating a themed compilation around restrictions like this is actually pretty difficult, but can be accomplished. I am not going to advise what the theme is, but will gladly accept speculation on the matter :) If you figure it out and ask me, I will let you know.

I am always looking for ways to improve, so please leave positive and negative feedback..

Basic information-

  • Compiled for continuity from the first song to the last. If burning to CD, it should be burnt to disc “gapless” in order to remove any annoying interruptions and play smoothly. Playing on MP3 these gaps are fairly inevitable, if you use a crossfader, I would suggest no longer than 1 second.
  • Please listen to it from beginning to end at least the first time. First time through, the song order is important. everything is placed in a specific relationship with the song before and after. After the first play through, skipping to tracks you enjoy will not detract from the overall feel of it.
  • This compilation was created to fit on an 80 minute CD-R

Eric Clapton/Cream Compilation

Yeah. I forgot I had this album, ran across it today and cringed.. then enjoyed the music, then cringed again..

Eric Clapton’s “The Cream of Clapton”.. I get the play on words they were intending, but seriously? Who came up with the title for this “best of” album and when listening to it, why does it feel like I have been blasted in the face by Clapton’s proverbial “load”? On this compilation, the recording industry swings Clapton’s squirting baby maker left and right with an uneven spray of his musical seeds. They make every listener into a whore for about 80 minutes.

It is a bit disappointing. With all the stroking and posturing, this 1995 comp misses wide swaths of landscape, his seed failing to hit all the marks available, which is damn shame. As an example, I am a Clapton era Yardbirds fan (though prefer Beck era) and this time frame is not really covered. It mainly sticks to the Cream/Blind Faith/Solo realm.

Overall, not bad though for a single disc compilation.
Give it a shot (heh) but if you can help it, don’t pay for it as it is nothing special.

If you are going to drop the cash, stick with Crossroads as it is far superior..

This year has not been conducive to the creation of new compilations. There has just been too much going on. I have been in a bit of “a mood” lately, too much work, not enough play = Jason being a nasty son of a bitch to be around.

While out with Jenn the other week, we heard some Mumford and Sons on the radio and it spawned a lot of the connections seen below. Every song organically reminded me of something else and snap*, there it is.. The first compilation after a couple months dry-spell.

As always, this may not be up your alley, but check it out, you might be surprised by a couple bands
Let me know what you like and don’t like etc, hate on me a little even, I don’t mind. I am resilient

Audio Compilation – [erisian] 2010 – Murdrum

Link Expired and Removed – please leave a comment if you are interested in getting a copy of this

I miss the days of cassette mix-tapes. I am a firm believer that unless you put it in a concrete order and spend the time to make a cover for it, it is nothing more than a generic playlist. not the same as making a tape, but? it is a creative outlet i have always and will likely always enjoy, regardless of the medium available. As such, I spend a fair amount of time each year, making compilations that i personally enjoy, and them make them available for other music lovers..

In case anyone is interested, newest compilation is available via this post. it will be online for maybe a month or so (post to be edited once i remove it)..

Just a little something to help break up the work week.

Music varies from punk to electropop.
Definitely has more of a dirty rock, drum heavy feel to it this time regardless of the genre flow that occurs.

Titled ‘Murdrum’, which is one of my favorite Palindromes.
